You want someone who understands your Subaru, takes the time to understand your situation, and works with you to determine the best path forward. Maybe it’s a major repair, a difficult diagnosis, or a project that requires experience and capabilities you can’t find close to home.
Sometimes, the right shop isn’t right down the road.
At Dakota Subaru Experts, we work with Subaru owners traveling from farther away and can help make the process simple, from your first conversation with our team to getting your Subaru to Bismarck and back on the road.

Every Subaru that comes through our doors has a different story. Some owners are looking for answers after struggling with the same problem for months. Others are facing a major repair, planning a build, or bringing us a vehicle they want to keep for years to come.
Whatever brings you to us, the common thread is wanting a team that knows Subarus and has the experience to help you figure out what comes next.

We Specialize. We Don’t Generalize. Subaru vehicles are all we work on.
For more than 15 years, Subarus have been a constant for us. We’ve repaired them, diagnosed them, rebuilt them, pulled them apart, put them back together, and seen how the same problems show up in different ways across different models and generations.
Working on one brand every day gives you a familiarity that’s hard to get when you’re working on everything. You start to know what tends to fail, what deserves a closer look, and what’s normal for these cars as they age.
Whether your Subaru is here for maintenance, something that needs to be figured out, or a major repair, it’s being handled by people who know these vehicles.

Wherever you are, you’ll know what’s happening with your Subaru, why we’re recommending it, and what comes next.

We don’t provide transportation directly, but we can connect you with a third-party vehicle transportation resource if you need help getting your Subaru to or from Bismarck. You’ll work directly with the transportation provider for the transportation itself, while we coordinate with you on our end.
Not at all. You’re welcome to drive your Subaru here, trailer it yourself, or arrange transportation with a company of your choosing. If you already have a transportation provider you trust, we’ll work with you to coordinate the vehicle’s arrival at DSE.
No. Non-running vehicles can still be brought or transported to us. Just let us know the condition of the vehicle when you reach out so we can plan accordingly.
Bring us whatever information you have. Previous diagnoses, estimates, repair history, and test results can all be helpful, but we’ll still evaluate the vehicle ourselves before making our recommendations or moving forward with additional work. We’ll consider your goals and budget when determining the best path forward.
Tell us what you have in mind. We’ll start there, but we’ll also make sure the proposed repair makes sense based on the vehicle and what we find. Our goal isn’t to just perform a repair because it was requested. It’s to help you make the right decision for you and your Subaru.
Let us know when you reach out. Different vehicles may require different transportation arrangements, and a transportation provider can help determine the appropriate options based on your vehicle and its condition.
Absolutely. Transportation doesn’t have to look the same in both directions. You can transport your Subaru to us and drive it home when the work is complete, drive or trailer it here and arrange transportation home, or use transportation both ways.
We’ll discuss the expected next step and timing with you before your vehicle arrives. Arrival at the shop doesn’t necessarily mean work begins the moment the vehicle is delivered, but we’ll coordinate its arrival around the plan we’ve already established with you based on what is going on with your vehicle and your needs.
We’ll talk with you. If our evaluation changes the direction of the repair or project, we’ll explain what we found, discuss the available options, and work with you on the path forward before additional work is authorized.
Yes. There isn’t a defined service territory for long-distance customers. If you’re willing to bring or arrange transportation for your Subaru to our shop in Bismarck, North Dakota, reach out and tell us what you have going on. We’ll determine whether we’re the right fit and help you understand the next steps.
We’re happy to talk with Subaru owners in Canada as well. Cross-border transportation can involve additional carrier and customs requirements, so reach out to our team about your situation and we can help you determine what resources may be needed.
We handle inspections, diagnostics, estimates, authorizations, and payments electronically, so you don’t need to be at the shop in person to move things forward. Depending on the type of work, a deposit or payment for special-order parts may be required before work begins.
Larger builds and specialty projects may also have their own reservation or deposit requirements. We’ll go over anything that applies to your Subaru with you before you’re asked to authorize it.
Not necessarily. Payment requirements depend on the type of service or project. For some vehicles, we may begin with an authorized diagnostic evaluation before determining what the vehicle ultimately needs. Other repairs or projects may require deposits, special-order parts, or other payments before work moves forward. We’ll make those expectations clear with you ahead of time.
